THE ROOM IS EMPTY

There was a small playtest here. It's closed, and I owe you a reason.

There was a small playtest at this address. A cursor, a few minutes in the dark, some typing. It's closed now.

It went up early to answer one question: could words arriving at exactly the right speed put someone inside a room they've never been in. They could. But the game kept changing underneath it. The text didn't line up the same. The typewriter was different. What was sitting here had become a rough picture of a game that no longer existed.

So I rebuilt it inside the real engine. It looked good. Better story, too. Then I noticed where my time was going. Voice overs. Sound effects timed to the frame. Music, ambient sound, and now hand painted scenes that would exist only for a ten minute playtest. I was making the game take longer so I could ship something that would never get the love it deserved.

I can get you excited in ten minutes. I can't get you in my head. That takes hours, and the smallest piece of it that works is all of Act 1. The demo is all of Act 1. Polished. Free. You pick up right where you left off when you play the full game. It isn't finished yet. I would rather hand you nothing than hand you something that isn't ready.

Before that, a new trailer. The one on the home page is real, but it's from before most of this existed. The next one shows what this actually looks like now. Headphones on. Lights off. When it's ready.
